white linen

It’s getting hot in Boston.

While white linen is extremely likely to show any markings and certain to become hopelessly rumpled, there is something about it I cannot resist. Even (and especially) wrinkled all to hell, I think white linen looks great. More so than linen in other colors, somehow.

Linen shirt and shorts (thrifted), J Crew belt, suede clutch* from The Old Laundrette (Etsy), freshwater pearl bracelets (eBay), freshwater pearl studs and pearl ring from Pearl Paradise, cherry Tahitian pearl necklace from Pearls of Joy, gladiator sandals (eBay), retro sunglasses (eBay (cheap)). On the lips: Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in La Favorite ( a much brighter pink in person, and lovely in texture, truly velvet-like).

*This was the second style I chose to fulfill the envelope clutch quest I mentioned a few posts ago. I’m tempted to go for this kind of honey, cognac shade every time, virtually independent of context. So predictable.

acquisitions: TOMS chestnut suede desert wedges

It came to my attention some months ago that I didn’t own any heels.

I have owned them, or tried to, but have gotten rid of them or returned them or otherwise disowned them on grounds of discomfort. I will tolerate some difficulties in the face of style, but outright pain is not one of them.

I do like the silhouette they can give, though, and want the option, and do not dislike being taller. So: the quest was on.

These wedges from TOMS were the first success. I heard that they were extremely comfortable (from many sources) and: they are. Especially with added support for the balls of your feet.

Love this fawn color. The plaid interior was a surprise but I like that, too.

Can already imagine them in a number of looks…with a belted olive T-shirt dress, with baggy pants cinched at the ankle, with denim cutoffs and a white button-down…

Seeing it?
